Board Approves Contract to Invest in Teachers

Along with the approval of the highest starting pay rates in Randolph County, Union School Corporation added other incentives. The board also approved the creation of a Master’s Degree Scholarship Program. The program will provide a thousand dollars per teacher per semester scholarship to pursue credits towards their Master’s Degree.  Huber says it’s a smart move and a great investment in both teachers and students. “With teachers who are able to teach dual credit or certificate courses, we can increase the offerings to our students. This is our goal, to provide quality instruction with the certifications needed to help our students have access to even more coursework.”  

The Master Contract increases compliment other changes happening in the schools at Union. Huber says teachers also have a stipend for teacher operational supplies for items in the classroom, and they’ve invested in new technology in all core and content areas throughout the buildings. “We’re continually on the lookout for ways we can invest in our students, and we know being able to retain and attract top talent in education is important. We are constantly on the lookout for ways we can support our educators, improve facilities, and ensure out students can receive the support and academic rigor they need.” The schools have also added positions to help increase academic support for students, including writing and math specialists, ESL support, as well as an additional counselor.
