Champ Ellis scored 27 points in the final game of his career as the Union Rockets lost a 95-42 decision to Tri Tuesday in the opening game of the Class A Randolph Southern Sectional. 

Randolph Southern may have lost its last two regular season games, but the Rebels are clearly an improved team that should be a feared opponent on its home floor in the Class A Sectional. 

As good as Champ Ellis – as great a career he has had as the now all-time leading scorer at Union High School – he’s going to need some help if Union is to make any noise in the state tournament.
