Randolph Southern Rebels

Although Randolph Southern’s cross country teams did not bring home team trophies from the Centerville Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, each Rebel runner earned a personal record or season record at the event.

Junior Olivia Keesling placed third overall and took nearly a minute off her previous best time. Keesling’s time of 21:08 is three minutes faster than what she was running a year ago at this point in the season and five minutes faster than she was running as a freshman.

Freshman Allie Black has been a wonderful surprise and addition to the running Lady Rebels. Black took three minutes off her best run of the year and continues to get better. Her time of 23:13 earned her a tenth place finish overall.

Junior Mattie Hale ran a season best finishing 23rd, and freshmen Whitney Sharp, Melody Black, and Emma Pegg earned PRs.

Centerville’s Emily Tedder won the girls’ race with a time of 20:19 leading the Bull Dogs to a team victory.

In the boys’ race Southern’s Wyatt Shinn was the first Rebel through the chute with a PR time of 19:28 and a 23rd place finish overall. Shinn has led the team all season and has shown improvement with each race. He has earned a PR each time out this season.

Junior Keith Donell (34th) ran a PR of 23:22, and sophomore Ethan Sayers (35th) finished with a PR of 23:28.

Dylan Brown and Jake Brant also earned PRs on Saturday.

Junior Mylan Nocton (18:00) finished first and led Centerville to a team win.
