Monroe Central’s Khaner Phillips and Shawn Roderick accounted themselves admirably Saturday in the IHSAA golf regional, but it took a score of 75 at The Players Club in Yorktown to advance to the state meet, and that was a tall order.
Phillips had a 46 on the front nine and a 45 on the back nine for an 18-hole total of 91, while Roderick fared a little better with a 45 on the front nine and a 40 on the back side for an 85.
Noblesville won the regional as a team with a score of 300, an average of 75 per golfer. Also advancing was Yorktown (301), Hamilton Southeastern (309), New Castle (310) and Cathedral (312).
Griffin Hare of Tipton was low medalist with a 67.
