Indians compete at Greenville, Wapahani

    Union City’s cross country teams competed on Saturday at the Greenville Invitational and this week in the Wapahani Inviational.

    At Greenville, with a field of more than 200 runners, Union City’s Collin Perry (132nd, 21:25) ) and Chloe Wyatt (66th, 22:56) both achieved season best times. Sylaris Dennis (28:19) and Michael Vore (22:51) each recorded personal best times.     

    At the Wapahani Invitational, the conditions of the meet started out perfect then the wind picked up and the races became the toughest of the year so far.

    For the boys, Indians Collin Perry and Michael Vore both had great starts in the boys race and worked hard to maintain good finishes. Chloe Wyatt ran a great race coming from 12th place with a mile to go to finish in the top 10. Sylaris Dennis had her best run of the year and finished with a new personal record by almost 2 minutes.

    The Indians compete Saturday at the 1st annual Jim Noffsinger Memorial Invitational at Union City.

Jerry Logan gets another ace

    Jerry Logan recorded his second career hole-in-one on Sunday, Sept. 1 on hole No. 9 on the Beeson nine at Winchester Golf Club. Logan’s ace was witnessed by Jeff Vickery and Tim Price.

Lady Bears third in MEC meet

    Monroe Central’s girls’ golf team placed third on Saturday at the Mid-Eastern Conference Tournament held at Maplewood Golf Club.

    Kloe Shinn finished sixth and Mabrey Buis was 10th to earn all-conference honors.

    The Bears compete on Thursday in the Randolph County Meet at Hickory Hills.

Randolph Southern’s girls’ defeat

    Shenandoah and Blue River defeated Randolph Southern’s girls’ golf team on Tuesday, 218-222-245. Olivia Thurston led the Rebels with a 55.


Bears fall to Hagerstown

    Hagerstown defeated Monroe Centrals’ volleyball team in three sets, 25-10, 25-15, 25-18.

    Top performers for Monroe Central were Lauren Yates with 10 digs, Lexi Conatser with two aces, Hannah McCollum with seven kills, Ruth Moulton with 11 assists and Sami Farmer with three blocks.

    The Bears were in action Wednesday at Cowan.


Rebels fall to Winchester

    Randolph Southern’s tennis team fell to Winchester on Tuesday, 3-2

    Both team endured a lightning and rain delay Both Randolph Southern doubles teams won, while all three Falcon singles team won.

    Southern’s No. 1 doubles team, consisting of Colton Fisher and Jake Good, won 6-0,6-1 and the No. 2  doubles team, consisting of Ethan Haines and Hagan Gambrel, won 6-4, 12-10 in second set tiebreaker. #1 singles,

    Tyler Fink, lost 2-6, 2-6; #2 singles, Jake Mifsud, lost 0-6,1-6 and #3 singles, Tylor Holguin , lost 0-6,0-6.

    The Falcons traveled to Muncie Burris on Wednesday. The Rebels will be home on Thursday against the Blue Rive Valley Vikings.
