Union City, Ind. – On Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, Frank Miller Lumber was notified of an incident that was linked to the Walnut Steamer located at Plant 1 (1690 Frank Miller Road). The unfortunate incident pertained to the Union City Street Department locating dead fish in the creek at the Harter Park in Union City, Indiana.
After further review, it was determined the freshwater float valve malfunctioned in the walnut steamer, which caused the organic walnut water to overflow into the nearest storm drain.
Frank Miller Lumber has since taken precautions and introduced preventative safety measures to ensure this type of accident does not repeat itself.
Frank Miller Lumber received full support from Mayor Chad Spence and the city in flushing and vacuuming all drains and tiles starting at Frank Miller Lumber and ending at Harter Park.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management was notified of this incident.
