AUGUST 6, 2019

    On August 6, 2019 at approximately 5:28 pm Darke County Deputies along with New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, Arcanum Rescue, CareFlight and MedFlight responded to a two vehicle injury accident with entrapment at the intersection of New Madison Coletown Road and Hollansburg Arcanum Road.

    Preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Silver GMC Acadia, driven by Christopher Hurd 20, of Palestine was traveling northbound on New Madison Coletown Road and stopped at the intersection of Hollansburg Arcanum Road. Hurd then pulled into the intersection and collided with a 1998 White GMC Jimmy, driven by Dustin Yount 35, of Greenville along with his 9 year old son front seat passenger Hunter Yount. The GMC Jimmy then traveled off the left side of the roadway rolling over. Hunter was helped out of the vehicle by the driver of the Acadia and Dustin had to be extricated by New Madison Fire. Dustin was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital and Hunter was taken by MedFlight to Dayton Children’s Hospital for their injuries. Hurd was treated at the scene and later taken to Wayne Hospital for a possible injury.

    Hurd was issued a citation for failure to yield from a stop sign.

    The Darke County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team also assisted with the investigation.

AUGUST 10, 2019

    On August 10, 2019 at approximately 7:15 P.M. Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue and Greenville Township Fire were dispatched to the area of State Route 121 and Children’s Home Bradford Road in reference to an accident with injuries.

    Preliminary investigation revealed a Grey 2013 Toyota Rav-4 driven by Brenna Campbell, 18, of Oakwood was traveling East on Children’s Home Bradford Road at the intersection of State Route 121. Ms. Campbell failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign striking a white 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Hailey Best, 30, of Greenville that was traveling South on State Route 121. Ms. Best’s vehicle rolled over in the roadway before coming to rest. Ms. Best and her juvenile passenger were transported to Wayne ER by Greenville Township Rescue. Ms. Campbell was treated by Greenville Township Rescue and released at the scene.

    This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

AUGUST 11, 2019

    On August 11, 2019 at approximately 1:53 A.M. Darke County Deputies along with Arcanum Rescue, Arcanum Fire, and Careflight were dispatched to the 3500 block of State Route 49 in reference to a single vehicle accident with injury.

    Preliminary investigation revealed a white 1994 Ford F-150 driven by Joshua Dembski, 38, of Eaton was traveling Northwest on State Route 49 North of Delisle Fourmans Road. Mr. Dembski failed to maintain control of his vehicle traveling off the left side of the roadway, and striking a utility pole before coming to rest. Mr. Dembski had to be extricated by non mechanical means by Arcanum Fire and Arcanum Rescue. Mr. Dembski was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight.

    Mr. Dembski condition is unknown at this time. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this accident.

    This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
