WILLIAM GREER

What office are you seeking and why?

Parker City Town Council. I'm running for Town Council to bring a fresh voice and shape the future of our community for all our families.

What is your personal/professional/government experience, and how does that make you the most-qualified candidate?

I believe Parker City is a special place to live, work, and raise a family. I have spent my childhood just outside of town and after my first child was born in 1994, I purchased a home in town, which I still live in. I am currently building a new home within the city limits and plan to retire here. So, I have a personal interest in our town`s wellbeing. As a lifelong resident I have served our community as a Volunteer Fireman and on the Volunteer Committee. My most recent position on the Fire Department was primarily Public Relations and Community Outreach. I have worked in the public service for over 35 years and have strong communication and problem-solving skills. Working as an International Flight Attendant for the past 30 years, demonstrates stability and dedication. My work experience includes diversity training and cultural awareness, and as our community grows, this experience will be an asset as a council member.

What is the one issue you would address if elected? And how would you address it?

My main issue is to ensure Parker City is a thriving place to live and do business in. It is important that our downtown is attractive and inviting, our homes and businesses are well maintained, as well as city infrastructure. I will work hard to restore our downtown area to culture business, consumers, and visitors by looking for revitalization grants, marketing, and searching out opportunities for economic growth. I want Parker City to be a community that people want to be a part and won`t leave.

If you had $500,000 in grant money and could spend it on whatever you think would improve your city, what would you do?

I would spend it on revitalization. Making sure our infrastructure is properly maintained, assuring our cities First Responders (Police, Fire Department, EMT) have the proper tools to keep our community safe, refurbishing older buildings, and marketing our town to potential businesses and community members.
