It was a big statement day for Winchester’s girls’ track team on Friday at the Northeastern Invitational.
Caitlyn Campbell was named the invitational’s MVP by winning four blue ribbons, winning both hurdles, setting a personal record in the high jump and anchoring the 1600-meter relay team to lead the Lady Falcons to the meet championship.
Also garnering top finishes for the Lady Falcons were Anna Von Strauss in the shot put plus the 4x4 relay.
Ryanne Lacy and Ella Baldwin rounded out the winning 4x4 team. Lacy was also second in the 400-meter dash and Baldwin was second in the 800-meter run.
Winchester also got some help with points from Morgan Lawrence, third in the shot, Zoey Craw, fourth in the 400m, and the second place 3200-meter relay team.
Monroe Central placed sixth as a team with Sami Farmer winning the discus and the 3200-meter relay team of Katie Osborne, Gracie Baker, Leah Osborne and Karly Puckett taking the blue ribbon.
Randolph Southern’s Olivia Keesling was first in the 3200-meter run and second in the 1600-meter run.
Monroe Central placed fourth, Winchester sixth and Union City ninth in the boys’ race.
First place efforts from Randolph County were Eli Chamberlain of Monroe Central at 800-meters (Gage Patterson of WC in second); Carter Miller of Monroe Central in the 1600-meter run (Tucker Burris of MC in second) and Miller also in the 3200-meter run; Union City’s 4x4 team of Blayne Daniels, Alec Spence, Eli Moore and Conner Walser; Monroe Central’s 4x8 team of Chamberlain, Burris, Caden Landis and Miller).
Winchester’s Dylan Sanders finished second in the shot put.
