Monroe Central’s boys and girls’ track teams swept a pair of opponents Tuesday on the oval.
In a three-way meet against Wes-Del and Elwood, the Bear boys totaled 71 points, Wes-Del finished with 64 and Elwood had 20 points. The Lady Bears finished with 81 points. Elwood finished a distant second with 41 and Wes-Del totaled 31 points.
First-place winners for Monroe Central boys were Ian Terrell in the 100-meter dash and high jump, Zach Martin in the 200-meter dash, Caden Landis in the 800-meter run, Tucker Burris in the 1600-meter run, Carter Miller in the 3200-meter run, Trystan Thornburg in the 110-meter hurdles, the 400, 1600 and 3200-meter relay teams.
Sami Farmer’s school record in the shot put highlighted the girls’ dominant win. Farmer’s new record heave was 36’9.”
Other blue ribbon winners for the Lady Bears were Audrey Keeley in the 100-meter dash, Katie Osborne in the 800-meter run, Karly Puckett in the 1600-meter run, Addison Coe in the 3200-meter relay team, the 400-meter relay team and Carolanne Kritsch in the high jump.
The Bears return to action on Thursday in a Hagerstown Quad meet.
