A pair of Randolph County seniors, Monroe Central’s Kloe Shinn and Winchester’s Becca Chamberlin led their teams to a second and third place finish respectively Saturday at the Big Cat Girls’ Golf Invite in Elwood.
Chamberlin’s 37 and 42 added up to a 79 as well as a second place overall in the tournament. The only golfer to play better was a talented University sophomore, Becky Williams, who advanced to the state tournament last year as a freshman. Williams scored a 72 to win the Elwood tournament.
Shinn’s 89 was good enough for fourth place overall and helped pace the Bears to grab the second place team finish.
Monroe Central’s Mabrey Buis shot a 92 giving her ninth place, and Brooke Bolton’s 92 put her in 10th. Paige Willen added a 106 giving the Lady Bears a team score of 379 putting them behind the tournament champion Trailblazers from University.
Chamberlin was followed by Maddie Lawrence and Maci Chamberlin, each with a 100, and Nevaeh Lanter with 110 giving the Falcons their 389 third place finish.
