Daniel Allen, the multi-tasking elementary principal at Randolph Southern School Corporation, has been recognized as “Principal of the Year” for District 6 by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
Allen’s selection came after a high recommendation from Supt. Donnie Bowsman, who pointed out Allen’s many professional duties, civic and community involvement, his communication and his dedication and loyalty to the school.
“Mr. Allen is beloved by his staff and students,” Supt. Bowsman said. “He is very active with school activities such as 4H, field day, Christmas programs and rewards for positive behavior.
“Mr. Allen cares about kids. He is in constant communication with parents and staff. On several occasions, I have seen him go beyond the call of duty to help students by working with caseworkers from CPS, Centerstone and Meridian Services.”
The elementary school principal for the past 10 years, Allen has served as the Title I and Special Education Coordinator for the school corporation. Bowsman said these two positions, along with his position at the elementary requires Allen to be well versed with Article 7 and Title 1 guidelines.
In addition, Allen coordinates all ILEARN, WIDA and NWEA testing and serves on the IASP Superintendent Advisory Panel for District 6. He formed and coordinated PLC’s with the school to address specific needs of struggling students. The PLC’s analyze and track data each week to ensure students are making progress.
Allen also serves on the Randolph County School Safety Committee, is the Lynn Lion’s Club President and a Little League commissioner. His children are active members of the Randolph County 4-H and compete in statewide shows for cattle and pigs. He has served as the sixth grade girls’ basketball coach and has coordinated feeder programs for girls’ basketball in grades three through six. He also coaches girls’ softball for fifth and sixth grade.
Supt. Bowsman also added that “Mr. Allen is my right hand. He has been by my side for 10 years. He is trustworthy, honest and committed to our school corporation vision and goals.”
