Lynn man arrested
on child porno charges
A police raid Thursday morning at the home of a rural Lynn man led to his arrest on child pornography charges.
Israel J. Young, 30, of 8568 S. County Road 300 West, Lynn, was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday on multiple counts of possession of child pornography as Class D felonies. Young is incarcerated at Randolph County Jail where he is being held on a $500,000 bond until the investigation is completed and final charges are filed. Law enforcement officers are currently examining files on computers taken from Young's home.
Upon forced entry into the house, Young was found to be asleep. Computer equipment was removed from the house by officers. A crime lab was set up outside the residence to inspect the contents of the computers and child pornography was found to be present on at least one of the pieces of seized computer equipment. While searching the 2-story residence Young shares with his mother, officers found he was also in possession of an illegal sawed off shotgun. Young was taken into custody by County Sheriff's Department deputies on initial charges of at least 64 counts of possession of child pornography and possession of the illegal shotgun.
If found guilty, Young could face a standard sentence of 1 1/2 years in prison for each Class D felony charge.
Sheriff's Department Detective Steve McCord said the ongoing investigation will result in additional charges. He said it will take police 2-3 weeks to complete the investigation. State Police are organizing the computer search and would file any additional charges.
Officers from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Lynn Police, Indiana State Police and FBI participated in the raid. The raid was conducted as a result of out of state law enforcement contacting local officials. Based on this information a warrant for Young's arrest was granted by Randolph Superior Court.
