promotion, beautification

By BILL RICHMOND

Winchester Main Street, INShape Randolph and Wilson Wines will host a Tour de Wine bicycle tour that combines exercise, business promotion and downtown beautification.

The bike tour is Saturday, Sept. 20 with a mass start at 8:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the county courthouse, downtown Winchester. It will include three routes with varying degrees of difficulty. There is a 5-mile fun ride for beginners and families, along with scenic 32-mile and 60-mile routes.

While the 5-mile route is mostly in town, the other two go though rural, slightly hilly Randolph County. The 32-mile route includes a rest stop at Wilson Wines, with light refreshments. The 60-mile route includes the opportunity to tour a historic round barn and lunch at Wilson Wines.

Registration forms are available at the Randolph County YMCA, Winchester Community Library and the Winchester Area Chamber of Commerce. Information is available on the Y website at www.randolphcountyYMCA.org.

Registration is $20 per person (including lunch) for the 60-mile ride; $15 for the 32-mile ride which includes light refreshments; and $10 per family or individual for the fun ride (with refreshments available after the ride). It is mandatory that participants wear an approved helmet.

For, contact Ceann Bales at the Randolph County YMCA, (765) 584-9622.
