Falcon golfers drop match to Greenville
Winchester's golf team lost a pair of decisions Thursday at Greenville, Ohio.
Ft. Laramie won the meet with 199 points. Host Greenville ended with 207, while the Falcons ended at 255.
Medalist for Winchester was Shantel Short with a 54. Ft. Laramie's Brooke Alberts was low medalist for the meet with a 45.
Next action for the Falcons is Thursday at Winchester Golf Club against South Adams and Blackford.
Lady Falcons run strong at Wapahani Invite; boys place third as a team
Whitney Wiist placed fourth and Olivia Wickersham was fifth for Winchester on Thursday at the Wapahani Invitational. Also for the Lady Falcons, Hailey Williams finished 11th and Robin Goodhew 15th.
The boys team, meanwhile, ran well enough to finish in third place. Joseph Thornburg led the Falcons in sixth place. Adam Haney ended in ninth, Andy Wegg was 18th, Quentin Mullen was 26th and Jordan Wallace was 33rd.
Winchester runs again on Thursday at Goodrich Park against Union County and Monroe Central.
Lady Rebels run
past Muncie South
Randolph Southern's Lady Rebels defeated Muncie South in a dual meet on Thursday, 20-36.
Lydia Morrow finished first in the meet with a time of 22:40. Also for Randolph Southern, Ashton Clevenger was third, Shawna Smith was fourth and Sharla Smith finished in fifth. Danielle Acton was seventh for the Rebels, while Jami Dingess place eighth.
2008 5k Run/Walk for Gas Help Fund
The Randolph County YMCA 2008 5K Run/Walk to aid the Gas Help Fund will be held on Saturday, September 27. Register between 3 and 3:55 p.m. at the finish line located near the Main Street Christian Church in downtown Winchester. Both races start at approximately 4 p.m. Cost $15 entry fee per person. Awards will be given to the top female and male finishers in each race plus 5k run age division winners. All participants are eligible for door prizes. The event is sponsored by Silver Towne LP. & Wick's Pies, Inc. Ohio Valley Gas will match all fees with proceeds going to aid the Gas Help Fund. Make checks payable to Randolph County YMCA.

Mississinawa Valley
Mississinawa Valley's seventh grade volleyball team lost to Union City 25-17, 25-20. Union City was led by Kelsea Miller with eight points, Alison Hunt with five points and Christy Mote with five points. The Blackhawks were led by Nicole Scholl with three points.
The Blackhawks won the eighth grade match in two games, 25-14, 25-23. Valley was paced by Elizabeth Livingston with 12 points, Hope Neargarder with eight points and Sydney Drew with five points.
The Blackhawks hosted Ansonia on Thursday.
