Local video producers unveil their latest creation

Winchester-based web design and video production company Uncharted Pixels Thursday hosted a premiere of its latest creation - an 18-minute film, "Show Us Your Heart: Organ Donation - Making the Decision."

The film addresses the concerns high school age students and their families may have about the decision whether or not to sign up to be an organ donor. It will be required viewing by all Indiana high school students enrolled in driver education courses. It includes interviews with surgeons, organ procurement coordinators, triage nurses, emergency helicopter pilots and a mother whose teenage daughter received a heart transplant as an infant.

Participants in the film also include three Winchester Community High School students - Jaelyn Saulmon, Jordan Wall and Codeya Tooley. Muncie high school student Danielle Cunningham also participated in the filming.

The film's creative director Kiera Landess said the key to making the presentation more effective was letting the students create the video in a manner that would easily communicate with other young people.

"We're incredibly proud of this project," Landess said. "And we couldn't have done it without the kids' participation. The result is a film that doesn't tell them what to do, it just presents the facts and lets kids make their own decisions."

She said the 18-minute film will be used by every driver's education program in the state

The students, all present at Thursday's premiere at Winchester Guest House Inn, each received certificates of acknowledgement and gift bags from IOPO as well as DVD copies of the film from Uncharted Pixels.
